New Solar PV System Up and Running
On December 9, 2011 Bison Printing turned on it's new 48 kW photo-voltaic (PV) system. Now, we can truly say "Printed with Solar Energy" to our customers.
Our History of Stewardship
Bison has always been committed to being a good steward of its resources. Now, we are harnessing the purest source of energy available: The sun. With a recently installed roof-mounted system, we are the only commercial printing company in southwest Virginia (and maybe the entire state) to use its own privately generated solar electricity for manufacturing.
The 48 kilowatt photo-voltaic (PV) system is one of the largest private commercial solar PV installations in Virginia. A grid of 208 solar PV panels on the roof of our facility generates enough electricity to completely power five households at 1000 kWh per month.
Bison Printing is a long-time proponent of stewardship, and solar power is our latest investment in taking care to properly use what God has given us. In addition to using solar energy, we recycle virtually all our paper and metal waste; we print with vegetable oil based inks; almost all the paper we use is made from sustainable sources; and most importantly, we respect and protect the dignity, health and well being of our employees.
